I've been playing games my entire life. It started with evening card games around the kitchen table, to video games when I was in Grade 5 and my first console in Grade 7. That's when the Atari 2600 came out. In 1977, I got a tour of the computers used for education at the University of Alberta and worked for them in 1980.
I wrote many little games back then, but my biggest adventure was creating a Text-Based video game using Six/Fant (examples). This computer language is designed explicitly for text-based adventure games where you type in "move north," "open door," "lift gate," "look around," and so on. Later, I wrote games on the PLATO system, including "Dodge It," which involves trying to dodge openings on the screen with gates, and of course, I implemented "Snake. Around the same time, PCs like the Apple II, Commodore Pet, and TRS-80 were around for me to make games in Basic.
In 2015, I discovered Unity and started playing around with it.
